I have to be honest; It feels strange to start to address readers, other writers, and maybe people who are just curious and interested in my books, all at the same time. But I will try to use an approach that will hopefully make it interesting and maybe helpful enough, in the only way I usually do things; sincere and “my way.” I know there are endless guidelines, tips, and rules on how a writer is supposed to make a newsletter to engage with readers, and they are very helpful. (cherish the people who take the effort to share those tips) I promised myself to keep those useful tips in mind but as usual, write from the heart.
My writing style for these types of newsletters will also be very casual because I think, that if someone has taken the trouble to read your newsletter, they deserve to discover more about the "human behind the book."
If, as a reader of my newsletters, you would like to ask questions or tell something about yourself, you are more than welcome to do so here in the comment section. I promise to check regularly for messages.
I kind of assume that if you're here, you've read the first post with my interview for the local newspaper and therefore already know a little bit about what kind of writer I am. The stories are Dystopian, (up until now) (spoiler) but with a twist that refers to current events in the world and I like to write a common story. Not just because I am a common person, but also because I want to reach out to people, who are either pretty aware of how society works and realize that my approach of telling the story from a vantage point of someone’s life, is a good way to create awareness. Or maybe for people who need some fresh insights to make them realize where all this could lead to, and (this especially refers to parts two and three) how it would be possible to create a change of thought or a different point of view. Some of my beta readers have suggested I should try to reach out to Young Adult readers because of the way the story is told as well.
Regarding my current WIP: Here we go:
These are exciting times. Because I published my debut Novel Afterwards, in October 2022, I’m finalizing edits to publish part two; Forwards, and am halfway through writing part three at the same time. (no spoiler 😉) It is sometimes quite difficult to concentrate on one thing while you are also creatively engaged with something else. But I think I’m already doing a better job than I did in the beginning. As a Pantser writer (sometimes making it up as I go along) I know I’m stretching it, by following the storyline I have plotted in some ways, but then letting the characters in the book decide how a particular scene develops and what the next step is to make the story meaningful.
And here are some things I intend to start sharing with you as a newsletter subscriber:
- The publishing date of the second part of the trilogy; Forwards
- An exclusive preview of the synopsis of Forwards. (or blurb if you will)
- Some “easter eggs,” clues, and relatable things I managed to leave behind in part one; Afterwards
Maybe the last one needs more explanation:
As in almost every Novel, a writer has a certain intention or message to share, which often is hidden in the form of “easter eggs,” repetition of words, leaving behind little clues, and so on. Even though I seem to be a writer who mostly writes instinctively, make no mistake…, I am guilty of leaving behind all those little clues in all three of my novels and have the research, quotes, and plot notes to prove it.
Please let me know in the comments if you would be interested in knowing about certain easter eggs, and little clues that were hidden inside the storyline because I would love to share some of them with you in my next newsletter. At the same time, I am curious if you have found some yourself. Of course, I realize it would only be interesting to know if you've already read Afterwards, but I don't want anyone to feel obligated to do so. “Reading starts with a curiosity for more knowledge, or because we are searching for emotionally relatable stories.” It can’t be forced. It has to come from the heart. Just like writing. If you’ve already read my Debut Novel, I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart. I am working on an account on Storygraph that will make it possible to give a review if you care to do so. (again, do not feel obligated)
I think that connecting this way, to keep my readers informed and maybe share some experiences together, is a very nice way to connect without any strings attached.
Greetings from the Netherlands, dear people, I hope to meet you here when I post the next Newsletter. Stay safe and healthy.

Hi, dear readers and maybe, fellow writers,
